This paper deals with the cultural movement, especially the musical one, in Saragosse at the end of the 19th century, by analysing and studying a local periodical called El Correo Musical, and the eighteen scores there included. This first part offers an analysis of the changing styles and fashions, the usual musical activities and the then common theatre and concert programmes in the period surrounding the review. I will reflect on the context of the period, related musical periodicals, societies, musical circles and associations, academies and schools of music, local centres with musical activity -coffee-houses and theatres-, and I will reach some.
