Abstract


The numerous documents generated by the creation of the organs in the Cathedral of México, are loaded with useful information about the process of construction. This collection belongs to the personal archive of the historian Guillermo Tovar de Teresa. It contains the first request for an organ sent from Spain, the embarquement at Cádiz on the galeon´s fleet. The arrival of Tiburcio Sans, problems with the organ tunning, critics and appointment of don Tiburcio as official examiner for musical instruments in Puebla 1698. The complete transformation of the old organ to match exactly to the new one, and the inventory of Joseph Nassarre´s project in 1734-1736. Magazines commenting the inaugural event and appointment of a curatortunner for permament maintenance. Other documents of interest for harpsichordists, musicologists and art historians.
