Abstract

This paper is a comparative survey of the Purification’s procesional pieces in Late Medieval Aragonese sources. The text describes and analyses the repertoire, its liturgical ordination, and the melodic-textual aspects of one of the most representative pieces. The aim is to understand the linkage of that repertoire within the Western Latin liturgy. After writing a theoretical context of this celebration, we show the local repertoire, and compare with their analogues in the Western Church, including the collation of the melodies of one of the most significant pieces. Finally, we establish a set of conclusions.
