Focus and Scope

Anuario Musical is a journal published by CSIC and edited by the Institución Milá y Fontanals de investigación en Humanidades that publishes original articles of musicological research in its widest sense, including historical musicology, ethnomusicology, and other interdisciplinary fields related to music. The contributions are original and previously unpublished, preferably in Spanish and English, although articles in other languages may be accepted with approval of the Editorial Board.

Founded in 1946 by Higinio Anglés, Director of the then so-called “Instituto Español de Musicología” of the CSIC in Barcelona, it is the oldest among scientific periodicals devoted to musicology in Spain. It began to be available online in 2007, in PDF format, maintaining printed edition until 2024. That year it became an electronic journal publishing in PDF, HTML and XML-JATS. Contents of previous issues are also available in PDF files.

Only accepts previously unpublished, original papers. Spanish is the main language, but also accepts originals in Basque, Catalan, English, French, Galician, German, Italian and Portuguese languages. The Journal is open to musicologists and scholars specialized in the many disciplines related to music. It is published yearly.
