Abstract

When we depart from a literary work to create a composition it is possible to speak about a process of transposition. This article attempts to reflect on some of the factors that determine this type of processes and that define the semiotic nature of the result. On the one hand, the extra-discursive determinants are born in mind, and, from a pragmatic perspective, there comes the importance of the sociocultural context, of the situation of enunciation and of the agents implied (authors, recipients, performers, society…). On the other hand, the determinants that act from inside the discourse itself are considered, especially those related to structural factors such as the macrostructural organization of the discourse, the actancial scheme and the treatment of aspects as time and action in the development of the narrative project. Opera Rigoletto with Verdi’s music and Piave’s libretto on Victor Hugo’s drama Le roi s’amuse is examined.
